Our Story

When our grandfather bought this land in 1964 it was his vision to work the family farm with his only son. After Grandpa passed away, our father, Terry Kelley, spent his life caring for the land. It was his vision that the land he and his father worked together would be used as a community teaching center and nature reserve. Though Dad’s vision was never truly realized, he never gave up on it, until the day he passed.

Now, with great support from our community, we are realizing our father’s long-held dream. Tall Trees Sanctuary is first and foremost a place of respite for all the unique animal life it holds, with walking trails and paths for our members to enjoy nature and feel a sense of the serene within the most populous county in Michigan. Additionally, We often hold special community events for members. From cultural celebrations to weekend retreats, our community is invited to turn off the smartphone and connect into nature and genuine humanity.
